KAGC U Leadership Summit, Capitol Forum with Senator Andy Kim

On January 9th, Senator Andy Kim of New Jersey met with 41 college participants of the 2025 KAGC U Leadership Summit at the United States Capitol Rotunda on Capitol Hill. On this special occasion, students had the opportunity to connect with a trailblazer who paved the way for young leaders like themselves to strive for positions that were once perceived as too distant for the Korean American community.

During the meeting, Senator Kim provided his vision for the future of Korean Americans in public service, shared his journey in becoming the first Korean American U.S. Senator, offered invaluable insights into public service and encouraged the student group to continue their efforts in civic engagement.

We are grateful to have invited the Senator to the KAGC U Leadership Summit both in 2019, when he became the second overall Korean American elected to the U.S. Congress, and in 2025 as the first Korean American elected to serve in the U.S. Senate. We thank him for his generosity, wisdom, and words of encouragement for the next generation of Korean American leaders.

KAGC will continue to foster opportunities for Korean American leaders to empower our community’s youth to take bold, purposeful steps in their academic and professional endeavors.
