U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff Meets Again with Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin to Strengthen US-ROK Relations & Security Cooperation

Seoul, ROK — This morning, United States Senator Jon Ossoff held an engagement with Foreign Minister Park Jin, with whom he has frequently met in the United States and the Republic of Korea. The two discussed the importance of strengthening the US-ROK alliance, regional security, and expanding trade between the State of Georgia and Korea. U.S. Ambassador to the ROK Philip S. Goldberg also joined the meeting.

Senator Ossoff is in the Republic of Korea this week to lead a 4-day economic delegation and strengthen US-ROK relations as both nations mark the 70th anniversary of their alliance, his second visit to Korea since his election in 2021.

During the meeting, Senator Ossoff reiterated his support for President Yoon Suk-Yeol to address the full U.S. Congress during his Official State Visit to Washington later this month. In March, Senator Ossoff led a bipartisan group of Republican and Democratic United States Senators calling on the leader of the U.S. House of Representatives, Speaker Kevin McCarthy, to invite President Yoon to address a joint session of Congress.

In April 2022, Senator Ossoff received Foreign Minister Park in Washington as part of President-elect Yoon’s Delegation to the United States. Senator Ossoff later hosted Foreign Minister Park for a bipartisan breakfast in Washington alongside former Korean Ambassador and newly appointed National Security Advisor Cho-Tae Yong to strengthen cooperation between the United States and the ROK in security, commerce, research, and culture.
